How Follow-Up Works
Follow-up in Setor AI is not a scheduled blast or a fixed drip sequence. It is a contextual response to silence — triggered when a lead stops replying, timed appropriately, and written to fit the conversation that already exists. Here is what happens step by step:1
Setor AI detects the silence
When a lead stops replying after a business message, Setor AI registers the gap. It waits for an appropriate interval before sending a follow-up — long enough to respect the lead’s time, short enough to keep the thread warm.
2
A contextual follow-up is sent
The follow-up message references the previous conversation. It does not start from scratch or send a generic nudge — it picks up where things left off and continues toward the booking goal naturally.
3
The sequence continues if needed
If the first follow-up also goes unanswered, Setor AI can send additional follow-ups over time. Each one is spaced appropriately and written to remain relevant rather than repetitive.
4
Follow-up stops at the right moment
Follow-up ends when the lead books a call, replies to continue the conversation, explicitly asks to stop receiving messages, or is disqualified based on their response (or continued non-response). Setor AI does not pursue leads indefinitely.
What the Data Shows
Follow-up statistics from 1.58 million inbound Instagram messages:
- 2 in 3 booked calls required at least one follow-up message before the lead committed to a time
- ~20% of gone-cold contacts are recovered by automated follow-up — leads who had stopped replying entirely and would otherwise have been lost
Human-Like Follow-Up
Setor AI’s follow-up messages are written to sound natural — not robotic, not template-blasted, and not pushy. They pick up the thread of the actual conversation, acknowledge where the exchange left off, and move toward the next step in a way that feels like a person checking in. This matters because follow-up that sounds automated damages trust and lowers response rates. Setor AI’s follow-up is calibrated to feel like a thoughtful message from someone who genuinely wants to help — because the underlying goal is always to start a real conversation, not to tick a box. What Counts as a Follow-Up
Setor AI uses a precise definition to avoid flooding a lead with messages. A follow-up is counted when:- The business sent a message
- The lead did not reply
- The business sent another message
- There was a gap of at least 30 minutes between the two business messages
